Fuck Yeah!

Opeth are fucking amazing. I'm amazed this actually fit. How much did you have to compress it exactly? Overall I'd say the mixing is decent, though I'd have to listen without headphones to really give a better opinion on it.

Your playing sounds great, especially the rhythm. I'd have to say my favorite part is the acoustic section. The drums must have been a real bitch to do. I've been working on the drums to The Grand Conjuration for quite a while now, but am going to be starting over, haha. Anyway man, for all the work you put in it sounds really awesome. Though it'd be better if you didn't have to compress it as much. Keep up the great work.

Eternalreich responds:

yeah thanks alot for the support

the drums sucked balls it took f o r e v e r

i plan to do some more

maybe still day beneath the sun

Cool

Man, it seems like it's been ages since I last heard a track from you. Congrats on the band.

As for the tune, the distortion still isn't the best, but the tune makes up for that nicely. Great playing and definitely is something to crank. The drums also sounded a bit quiet through my speakers. Other than that though, great job.

Wow

Man, that PODX3 sounds even better than I thought it would. Now I really want one.

Your playing is great especially on the harmonies. You rhythm sounds like it's pretty tight. Which is good since this is an Iced Earth song.

As far as an opinion on the mix, I'd say give the snare a bit more compression along with the kicks. I like the cymbals. The only thing about the mixing that really even bugs me is the low kickdrums. I'm liking where the guitars sit in the mix.

Keep it up man, I'm loving the new sound.

Eternalreich responds:

cool man thanks for the review

the drums are pre mixed with ez drummer and i havent fucked with that....yet

i agree with the bass drum sound but at least it sounds pretty real..... kind of

the only parts that piss me off are my sustain on the lead melodies and the feel

of the first flute part i have trouble with vibrato on the high e string

thanks for the support and keep listening

Pretty cool man

Overall it's a good job, but the drums could use a bit of work. I also don't think you had too many cymbal crashes. I just think you used them the same way too many times. If you could have come up with variations I think they'd have sounded a lot better. Like if you had added some eighth note cymbals that switched between a couple of crashes, or had done some more rhythmic cymbal work. If I'm not too clear with what I mean, try listening to Mike Portnoy drum. He uses crashes, splashes, and any other cymbal you'd ever want really well. As for the rest of the tune I can't really complain.

I can't wait to hear some new tunes from you man.

Eternalreich responds:

yeah man that cymbal shit pisses me off

the drums definitely suck on this shit

but its got a couple cool riffs at the end

thanks alot

Fuck

That was heavy man. The only thing I think I'd chance is having less reverb on the vocals. Other than that I've got no real complaints. All around a kickass track. It's hard to believe you're only sixteen and can get that low with your vocals.

Fuck

Man I haven't seen you around in ages. Glad to see your still alive.

Anyway, I'm guessing it's you on drums? if so great job with the playing. Though the kick got really hard to hear in some sections, even though you already know that, I just felt like pointing it out. I really love the snare though. Guitar sounds nice and thick, not going the direct method anymore when recording? Were you using an sm57 for the guitar? I'm looking into mics for micing my amp, so any tips/suggestions would be awesome.

Anyway man, nice to see you kicking around again. Hopefully we'll see a bit more of you around.

Cool

I was wondering if you'd ever submit this one. You by any chance still have the project file fo rthis one? I'd love to update the drums and mix it for fun and practice. Anyway man, I'll try and make a drumtrack for you again before I catch you online.

Pretty cool tune

The mixing is better than usual, I didn't notice any clipping in this one. Your playing is clean as usual and the turntable thing didn't come out too bad. I can't really find anything to complain about at the moment, so congrats, hahaha. I'm also glad to see that everyone isn't as lazy as I am about writing tunes. Keep it up man.

Awesome

Great job with the vocals, both of you did great with them. Cyril has a great voice, and your mixing was awesome. I also love your drums, how much compression do you have on the kick and snare? They'd sound awesome in a metal tune. All around badass man, you ever need guitar recorded I'd love to help you out.

Rig responds:

Alright, here's what I did:

I made two copies of the vocals and detuned one of them for a richer sound (I had to turn one copy down to reduce phasing). I ran them through some EQ and a compressor with some saturation. I cut off the low end and added distortion for the whispered beginning, but it's flat and clean for the screams.

The bass was made with 3xOsc - I made a detuned sawy sound and set its internal SVP LP x2 filter (resonance up all the way) to the velocity of the notes, for a different sound every time you press the key. I ran the whole thing through Ohmicide, Naive LP filter (it changed the cutoff with the amplitude of the input signal), and some compression.

The drums were pretty simple - I got a couple loops and ran it through two different inserts. One was dry while the other one was highpassed and had Supatrigga in it. Both of them were ran through the same compressor as the bass. By the way, I used the free compressor BLOCKFISH to do all the compression in this piece.

In the master track, I just cut off the lows and highs and did a final touch of compression to keep the vocals and instruments more or less equal. :)

Hope that helps!

Wow

This sounds really good as far as rough drafts go. You're pretty damn talented. I'm guessing it was you singing? Sounds pretty damn good, though some sections of the vocals fall behind the music a bit, but that'll be something to fix on the final track during mixing. Aside from mixing tweaks I really think this is good. I saw in an earlier review response that you might want some guitars in this? If you do I'd be more than happy to help.

Also what Yamaha keyboard were you using? It sounds pretty good, especially on the lower notes. My Yamaha doesn't get that kind of power from the notes.

Anyway, great job on this. I'll be looking forward to the final version.

If any flash author's want some custom music for their flash just let me know. I'd be more than happy to try and help you out.
