Nice

A pretty cool tune man. I liked the mix of instruments you used. Though I wasn't entirely fond of the guitar tone. It was a little thin sounding to my ears. The vocals were badass though. You've got some great mid-range and lows screams man. The gutturals could use a bit of compression on them, then again I put compression on just about everything, haha. All around a cool fucking track though.

CWN responds:

Thanks man!
The low gurgling screams are a new technique I tried out, compared to my old growls, which used a different part of my throat... I like the new technique more, sounds more "real"... I might want to try and lower the mids of the guitars and raise the overall volume... dunno... hehe... It's a never ending process... remastering is a pain in the ass...

Hmm

The song itself isn't that bad, but the mixing wasn't that great in my opinion. There was a lot of clipping throughout with the guitars. The drums were also really drowned out. Most of the time the snare was the only thing that you could make out well. The vocals weren't too bad, but with the rest of the mix the way it was, it just took away from the tune too much. If you can mix it more effectively, I think it'd be a lot better of a tune. I will say though, I really liked the part that kicked in at around five minutes. Keep it up man.

Schleif responds:

hey man, thanks for listening, just that is much appreciated! and yep, the clipping is definitely the main issue here. i'll do my best to mix shit better in the future, hopefully just need some more ehm, practice =p. til' next time and all that. thanks for the review! - and keep it up yourself, your stuff's great man!

Hmm

Sounds a lot like Testament man. I mean, A LOT like Testament. not necessarily a bad thing, just thought I'd mention it. I also thought some of the leads were too quiet. If you'd kick them up a bit it'd sound better. It could use some vocals as well, why don't you contact Crucified here at Newgrounds and ask if he'd like to do some vocals for it? His voice would fit really well over it. Anyway man, was a cool tune in the end.

Dimoria responds:

I don't know if that's cool or not :) I've never heard testament. But are they good ? If they are I will download it. :) And if you have read my description etc , you would know that this song is 3 years old or more :P So I won't fix anything on this version. However if you guys like this one I will record it again but with my new sound etc :) And perhaps add vocals etc. Thanks alot anyways :)

Hmm

Sounds good so far, but there are a few things I'd mess with whenever you get around to mixing it. Mostly I think I'd get a better tone for the bass. it should have a deeper sound to it in my opinion, just to really fill out the lower end of things. Then when it gets heavier you should get it sounding nice and punchy with some compression. I'd also suggest disabling the cabinets in Guitar Rig and on your Zoom, and using some better sounding impulses.

You can read up on them here http://www.guitarampmodeling.com/view forum.php?f=32&sid=b5b57ea4e5958327e3 efe8be38649681. Once you sign up to the site you can download the impulses posted by various people. They also have sections for different software and hardware. Hope this helps a bit man, I'll be looking forward to the finished product.

Sonofkirk responds:

As always, an awesome review from you, thanks a lot. Yeah, it fuckin' difficult to find a good bass sound with Guitar Rig. Thanks for your piece of advice, I will check out this link quickly and fix that problem.

Not bad

Not too bad as far as playing goes. You could have obviously mixed it better, but oh well. I'm liking the leads though. You're pretty good at playing melodic things with your Homer Simpson fingers, haha. The drums are also sounding good man.

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks dude. Sorry about abrupt leaving today. My compy is FAILURE all over. I might have to take it back.

Anyways, I've really been practicing a lot with those homer fingers. haha.
Thanks for the review, whoreface.\m/

Not bad

Sounds decent so far man. Though some of the sounds in the beginning might be out of place if this is played in-game with a fight going on. I mostly thought it was the bell/clock thing that comes up a few times. I also might shorten up that pause that happens just before the guitar kicks in. I like that there was a pause, but it seemed too long.

As for the second half of the tune, I think the drums are a little much. They just start going crazy and don't really stop. It might be better to try and build more of a groove with them. Also it ends pretty abruptly, if this does get played as in-game music you might want to give it the ability to tie in with itself.

Anyway, just a few thoughts I had while listening. I'll be looking forward to the other versions of the tune. Good luck with it man.

Oh yeah, also, if you want to improve your tone, try looking into Impulses. Here's a link to a forum that should help http://www.guitarampmodeling.com/view forum.php?f=32&sid=efa9e1d3c05c9ff3f1 dc48e31e78d18f

wow, i think that has to be the most helpfull and considered review, ever! respect!

Not bad

This wasn't bad at all. Your singing was great, and it sounds well composed. There are a few little things I'd add or change, but it's mostly the percussion. It wasn't bad by any means, but I kept waiting for some badass metal drums to kick in. Just to really help pound out the riff along with the orchestra, and to give it a bit of a groove. Hopefully there will be some more metal coming in from this account in the future.

MaestroRage responds:

Yeah, I know.. I'm not used to working with percussion at all, so I had no idea what to put in there. XD We tried some snare before releasing it, and it sounded ATROCIOUS. Anyway, yes, I think there will be some more metal in the future, because I have to make a song 10 times better for this contest in a few months. >=3 Prepare to get your face melted, good sir. Anyway, thank you for listening. Ragey and I work hard!

Nice

I really liked it at around 16 seconds when everything kicked in. The rest of it was cool as well, but could use something to pull it all together, like some vocals. Though I'm not even vaguely sure what the vocal melody would be, haha. keep it up man, odd time signatures are fun to play with.

Sonofkirk responds:

Thanks a lot Speedy. Yeah I think i would be difficult to add a vocal melody ... Yep, I love odd time signatures. Symphony X and Dream Theater rock !

Thank you bro \m/.

Not bad

Your tone is sounding pretty good man, you still using your XT or you start messing with your X3 yet? Overall it sounds like a solid theme, though some of the lower notes lacked definition through my shitty speakers.

DarKsidE555 responds:

with both I say but more with the podxt my good man. To be honest with ya...I didn't put much effort in this one...not at all. lol XD

Hmm

I actually really liked the sound of the dive-bomb and the other whammy bar sections. I really wish I had one. Though like you said below, they can be a bitch to keep in tune. Your playing sounded pretty damn good, but there was some clipping. Other than that one I have no complaints. Even that one is an easy fix. Keep it up man.

KitsuMech responds:

Sweet. =].

I was really happy with this piece, the guitar that I used on this has been out of commission for about two years. Haven't had the money to go fix it. So these passed two years or whatever I've been playing on a Warlock with a bent neck.

Anyways, enough about me, I liked your piece as well, I wish I could play with the speed and accuracy you do D=.

Haha, thanks for your time! >=]

If any flash author's want some custom music for their flash just let me know. I'd be more than happy to try and help you out.
