Well damn...

Sorry man, I completely missed this one. I must say I really love the sound of that piano you used. What vsti were you using? The backup instruments weren't bad, but it would have been nice to hear strings more throughout the song. Just giving support to the piano, nothing to outstanding. Also one chord in the melody at 4:06 I think it was sounded a little out of place/odd to me. Still though, I really like this version a lot. Alex's voice sounds pretty damn good, and his performance really made the song just that much better. Great job you two.

Badman and I really need to get our lazy asses in gear and finish our version of this. Also you wouldn't by any chance have sheet music for the piano from this version would you? It'd be pretty cool to learn it.

Naitzmic responds:

Can't wait to hear it.

I'll PM you all that other stuff you asked about.

Wow

Wasn't expecting to see something from you man. It's been too damn long. Using an eight track eh? Pretty good, but the kickdrum has too much bass in it. Or at least for my taste. I actually liked the guitar tone, is that your line6 amp? I also liked the bass in the beginning. All around it sounds pretty good, but could use some tweaking. Hopefully you'll get some more tunes pumped out and really get used to your digital recorder.

You get MSN working yet? We haven't talked or jammed in ages.

GoreBastard responds:

Cheeeers dooood!
Yeah, I left the bass knob turned right up on the drum track, but that's fixable. I can just re-master it with the bass on a lower lever.
The guitar tone IS my line 6 amp. I'm glad I can finally use it now instead of the guitar port. That means I can use Wah, and I can switch from heavy to clean without stopping recording (not that I use clean much anyway haha). I've been playing with it alot lately, and I think I'm getting better and learning new tricks with it so yeah, hopefully I'll have some good quality shit coming out soon!

I can use MSN on my sisters laptop, but she always loses the plug adaptor for it! As soon as I get a new computer I'll be back on having riff wars for definate!

Heavy metal, tits and beer, cheers for listening mate!

Wow

Holy fuck...you little twat, you've almost got 10k listens and 823 votes on this song alone, that shit's insane, congrats dude. Metalized is a kick ass player and your vocals were sweet. Though the lyric following the crystal clear part sounded a little odd. Something about "that day now is here" just sounded off to me. other than that it's all pretty awesome, especially the beginning with the clean vocals and the growls at the end. Great job.

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks man. Its definitely an interesting position to be in. Some fantastic thoughts on the tune, also vulnerable to every idiot that hates that metal is on the top of the list. Ah well. Pretty soon I'm gonna have to be an asshole back. hahaha.

Yeah, I didn't have the words written down properly, so I lost a syllable or two...and only realized while yelling my ass off, so had to "fill" it on the fly. And cubase is being such a bitch..I just left it.

Anyways, appreciate the review man. Was wondering your thoughts on this.

Hmm

Pretty well written, though playing is a bit sloppy, and the mix could be better. Still though for how short it is I really liked it. If you messed with the panning some more and maybe doubled what guitar tracks you already have this would sound a lot thicker. I like the snare you're using and the cymbals and toms were good. I wasn't a fan of the kickdrum though. It sat a little low in the mix for my taste and sounded kind of muffled. It would be cool to hear an updated version at some point like Badman said. Just maybe spend a little more time with the mix.

jdh504 responds:

Yeah, I did bring down the volume of the guitar a little so that you could hear the bass and the drums more, maybe I'll try to bring the volume up some so it can sound thicker. I'll probably have to re-record some bits too so that they sound smoother. I'm not sure which part with the kickdrum you're talking about though, I'll definitely look into it though, thanks for the review man.

Not bad

The rhythm is quite good and JTHM is fucking awesome. The only thing I think would make this song better is really if you mixed the vocals a bit better. It's pretty hard to make out most of them, whhich actually might have been what you were going for, but with a bit of eqing I think you could make the vocals cut through the mix a little more. Still though I did enjoy the tune quite a bit. It's minimalistic, but not in a bad way. Keep it up dude.

soulmasking responds:

Ha... DUALLY NOTED - JTHM IS fucking awesome! Based on the vocals though, it was kind of my intention. I was attempting to give the feeling of confusion that nny was going through. I distorted both vocals and guitar in this song to try and give it a feel of confusion, dread, and madness. I'm not quite sure I achieved that successfully, since I didn't really want it to be as difficult as it seems to be to hear the lyrics. I do agree that if I didn't know what I was saying I probably wouldn't be able to understand it very well either (at least I posted lyrics). Aside from that I have put a lot of time into other songs with lots of extra "fluff" and instruments just to have them shot down for being too busy, so with this one I took a step back and just went with what was important. I was trying for the bare minimum, I'm glad that wasn't a negative in your opinion. I will be sure to keep all this in mind in furture projects. Thanks for your great score, time, and awesome review.

Nice

You're lucky to have a girlfriend who can do growls and actually like them. That's a rarity my friend. Haha, hope you end up doing some more shit.

Metalcan responds:

Yeah I'm very lucky. ^^ I hope to do more as well.

Sweet

Really nice playing man. Very melodic which is always awesome. It also stayed heavy throughout. The only thing I think was off was the level of the drums. They were a bit low in the mix. Not so much the cymbals, but mostly the snare and the kick. Both were audible, but could have been more present. You know I'm a picky fuck about drums though.

DarKsidE555 responds:

You bitch! Always bitching around on my kick! >: (

I lul at you! But hell I keep in mind. :P I just <3 melodical outbursts and I think I pretty much nailed it there. Thanks for checking speedy! You suck! lol

Fuck

This pounds the original version into the dirt man. Damn fine job remixing this. You still using the same gear as before? You've definitely gotten better at using it if you are. Keep it up.

AngelsDontKill responds:

Thanks! I am still using all of the same gear. I got some new drum samples, which is why I felt like trying something new and old to see if it sounded better, and this is one I chose to be an old song. Yeah, my equipment is all the same, however I used a new method of recording to do this.

Wow

I haven't seen you in what seems like ages man. How have you been? Sounds like you've been practicing your playing a lot. Your leads have gotten better, they're a lot more melodic now. The clean riff after the solo was pretty sweet, and the thunder went well with it. Sounds like you're branching out a bit more from your Slayer sound and trying to make your own little groove. I'd have to say if you work on this and polish it all into a great mix this could be your best yet. Hopefully you'll finish it man.

Demon-Slayer12 responds:

I'm doing good man, thanks. As for the sound, thats why I've been away for so long, I'm trying to perfect it, and make my own sound like you said. I'll finish this song for sure when I get a chance, and there will be other new songs as well. Thanks for checking it out man, and the vote :) rock on man! \m/

Nice

Sounds pretty good overall. Though I would maybe bring the guitar's a bit higher in the mix. Though it all works pretty well in this tune. Though your rhythm tone sounds a bit thin. What method are you using to record?

xmnhx responds:

Thanks for the review. I'm glad you liked it. I see what you mean about the rhythm tone sounding thin. I was actually thinking about going back and doubling the guitar lines to get a thicker sound. To record, I use a program on my computer called riff works, and I just hook up to the computer and play. Nothing special really.

If any flash author's want some custom music for their flash just let me know. I'd be more than happy to try and help you out.
