Hmm

Well the song itself is pretty good, but it sounds somewhat small. Your sound as a whole needs to be beefed up. Your drums could use some more punch and your guitars sound too dry. The sweeping you were doing was also too quiet I'd say. The vocals are actually recorded quite well. I'm guessing it was you? It's overall a nice performance, but it could use some more tweaking I think.

Live2shred responds:

Thanks for the advise! I actually had to cut down alot of the frequencies between 100hz and 350hz to make the vocals stand out, resulting in a lack of punchiness. The compressor I'm using is digital, so naturally it sounds thin (unfortunately).

I'm going to upload the instrumental version which sounds more full since vocals were not added. Be sure to check it out and see the difference! Again, thanks for the review!

Bwahahahahahaha

I love that opening scream. Sounds like you were trying to go towards power metal with it, haha. I Can't wait for next Tuesday to hear some more.

You know...I need to pester you until you can really sing powermetal now that I think of it.

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

haha, man..just screaming in frustration is all. hahaha. Anyways, no need to nag. I've been practicing a lot. Hoping I can get good enough for you to write something to. I still sound a bit like Kermit, but...practice practice practice.

Thanks for the review, and Next Tuesday should be as shitty!\m/

Hmm

Well the vocals might have been good, but I can't tell all that well since the mic you used seems to be quite bad. What kind of mic are you using? YOu might actually be better off using a decent pair of headphones. The drums and guitar were also fairly quiet compared to the vocals. The cymbals are hard to hear as is the bassdrum. So overall with mixing and new vocals this could be pretty decent.

awesome! a review by speedmetalmessiah!!
Thanks for the tips, well it sounds fine on my dolby surround 5.1 system... oh well

Nice man

Pretty sweet to hear some double bass with a punk riff. All in all it was a cool track.

Evil-Dog responds:

Thanks man :)

Cool tune

I like the drums a lot. High energy and great sounding samples. I can't really imagine making a track like this, I really wouldn't know where to start. I liked the shaker, it added to the beat nicely. The synth are quite awesome, how many layers of synth did you end up having on this tune? All in all it sounds like an obscene amount of work. Great job.

Rig responds:

Thanks, man! Actually, it took me roughly four hours to do (he needed the song that day :P)
So here's what's in the song:

Drums - 4 or 5 layers, some sliced-and-diced loops, and some built with CM 505 and FPC. I ran them through two tracks, one of which had SupaTrigga.
Synths - Saw and long synth both made with Nexus, and the one at 0:54 made with FabFilterOne.
Bass - The grinding bass part was made with RigBass, and I added a sine sub with 3xOsc.
Background stuff - Processed ambience loops.

Now YOU can make your very own track! :D (by the way, I started with the bassline.)

Nice

Your samples sound decent though the beat was pretty plain. The piano is decent and the strings work well. The vocals are very clear though they sound a bit dry to me. I'd throw a bit more reverb on them. Maybe even double a couple of parts, though that isn't too big of a deal. All around I think it's a good track that could use some more interesting drums.

Sp1r1T responds:

I tried some reverb, but I guess it didn't come out well :P

Thanks for the review :]

Hmm

The intro synth was too loud, and the drums are too quiet. I could hardly hear the kick or the snare. The synth themselves aren't that bad really, you actually did a decent job of programming them. They are a bit repetitive, but I can get over that. Really though this track just needs a lot of mixing done to it. Try putting a compressor on the kick and snare. Especially the kick to give it some punch. Even a bit of distortion wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd also turn down the synths quite a bit and pan the ones that kick in at 1:36.

SysRq00 responds:

Distortion on the kick and the snare or just the kick? I think both would sound good, I'll give it a shot and re-upload. definitely under mixed on this one, I guess I was just anxious to get this one on NG. All I really have is just a couple filters on the synth leads. Thanks so much for reviewing, I'm a long time fan of your music.

Wow

Was a bit of a surprise to hear something like this, but I like it. Your acoustic is very clear along with the shaker and the harmonica. By the way, was that you playing the harmonica? I really liked the blues guitar you were playing. I also like that you didn't overdo it with your drums. You never fail to impress me with your tunes. keep up the great work.

rocker206 responds:

Yup that was me on the harmonica...I still suck ass at it but I'm slowly getting there lol. Without the condenser mic i got awhile back I probably would've never done a song like this. Anyways thanks for the review! \m/

Nice

Sounds quite good. Kickdrums were a little quiet for my taste, but I'll never stop bitching about peoples kicks, haha. You can write songs really well, and it sounds like you know your shit when it comes to mixing. All around a nice long tune that just needs vocals. When I was listening to it I was thinking some higher pitched, almost black metal vocals would go well with most of this, then on some of the heavier parts it'd go to a lower type of growl.

What was all the gear you used for this? I'm especially curious about the mics you used, unless you went direct, but it sounds like mics to me.

Lashmush responds:

I used a computer, and thats about it. ;D

And concerning the kick, its fixed for future work. Atleast to my liking. And you've picked up the song well, since you've got the vocaltypes set pretty much like I want them, apart from some "growl choir" parts here and there.

Thanks for the review, speedmetalmessiah.

Nice

Very well played man. I really can't find anything to bitch about. I really like the mix and the tone of your guitar and bass were awesome. Hearing this makes me want to jam with you again on msn haha.

Metalcan responds:

Thanks a lot man! Haha yeah we should jam the next time I catch you on msn.

If any flash author's want some custom music for their flash just let me know. I'd be more than happy to try and help you out.
